1. Re: Quickest way to dusseldorf from frankfurt airport
The rail service is excellent. The ICE trains do 300kph in some sections of the journey.
Go to the German Rail website and punch in the details of your intended trip. There is an English language option. Use "FRA" to start at the Frankfurt airport and "Dusseldorf Hbf" for the destination.
You can order in advance and can sometimes save money by booking in advance. Click on "Saver fares" to see if any of the bargain fares are left for when you travel.
You can print out the ticket at home. Just bring along the ticket and the credit card you used to buy it and present both when the ticket inspector comes along. A reservation is separate from the ticket and is not always necessary depending on when you travel and how far. You can purchase
a reservation when you buy the ticket or later. In general, it is my policy to buy a reservation if my train is to travel through the Frankfurt airport station on a Friday or Sunday. Those days always have large numbers of travellers with too many bags blocking the aisles. If this is your first journey on a German train, then I;d spend the little bit extra to insure that you have a seat.
